Frequently Asked Questions

Is booking online secure?

We prioritize the security of your personal information when you make a booking with us, implementing various measures to ensure its safety. Our website employs a secure server, and all sensitive or credit card information provided is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, then encrypted into our payment gateway provider's database. Access to this information is restricted to authorized personnel with special permissions, who are obligated to maintain its confidentiality. Rest assured, after a transaction, your private information such as credit cards, social security numbers, and financial details, will not be stored on our servers.

What are the benefits of a vacation home rental?

Our vacation homes are thoughtfully stocked to provide a sense of returning "home" rather than to a standard hotel room. Complete with full kitchens, and in some cases, game rooms, hot tubs, and BBQ grills, our properties offer the comfort and convenience of a full-service home during your vacation, as opposed to the confines of a small hotel room.

How can I make a payment for my vacation rental?

We accept payment by Visa or Mastercard.

Will I be charged HST and/or other taxes?

Some properties may charge a 13% HST provincial tax. Please refer to the individual property listings for detailed information. As of February 1, 2021, a Municipal Accommodation Tax of 4% applies to all bookings in Prince Edward County. This fee, designated as a Destination Marketing Fee for Prince Edward County, is included in the rental rate advertised by Places in PEC, along with an additional 4% for marketing purposes.

Will I be charged any fees?

As of January 1, 2019, a non-refundable booking fee of 6% is charged on all reservations, covering processing charges and administration.

Will my Damage Deposit be cashed or processed?

A damage deposit is pre-authorized on the credit card provided at the time of booking, serving as security against damages, excessive mess, or violation of the Short-term Rental Agreement terms and conditions. Upon departure, guests are expected to leave the property tidy and free of trash, ensuring furniture is returned to its original place. Failure to meet these standards may result in charges deducted from the damage deposit, up to the full amount. The damage deposit is provided to Places in PEC via credit card pre-authorization at the time of booking. In some cases, upfront payment of the refundable damage deposit may be required. Fourteen (14) days after check-out, the damage deposit is no longer processed and expires, allowing time to address any claims. Notification of damage or violation is typically sent within 72 hours after check-out, although this may be delayed if check-out falls on a Friday or Saturday. Property inspections are conducted after guest check-out and before new arrivals, with notifications reaching us within a few days.

What if I have to cancel my booking?

Please refer to our cancellation policy outlined in our terms and conditions #11.
